but I didn't realize that it would come so fast! Rachel is old enough to want sleepoers. Dan and I had talked early on when she was a baby about sleepovers, and had decided that our kids would not be having friend sleepovers! I don't want to be the mean mom around town, but I know that nothing good happens after midnight...and so when Rachel asked if she could sleepover at her good friend Hannah's house we had to have the sleepover talk! She was a little disappoited at first but then I mentioned that we could however have late-nights! We decided that we would have a late night on Friday night with some of her friends...we planned it out, we had som pizza and rented Enchanted, and cooked up some popcorn in our really awesome popcorn popper! We took the queen size mattress off of her bed, and laid it down in front of the tv, and got pillows and blankets together! Her friends came over at around six thirty and stayed until just after ten! We painted fingernails and did all sorts of girly stuff, while Dan kept the boys downstairs and away from the girls! It was a blast, and made me realize that the kids don't really need sleepovers!
Tell me, am I over-paranoid? Am I the only one out there who doesn't think that my kids need to have friend sleepovers? They get to have cousin sleepovers every once in a while, that should be good enough right? Are we the mean parents? Probably but at least I feel like I have some control, over what happens late at night! Late nights are great, and hopefully I won't scar my kids forever! Decisions, Decisions!

I TOTALLY agree with you! Sleepovers scare me to death. In this day and age, you realize you never really know what people are capable of. Just watch 'To catch a predator'! I trust very few people to be with my girls late at night, let alone parents and kids that I hardly know. It is sad, but I think it's also smart. Family only sleepovers for my girls too!
What a cute late night! You are a good mom.
I'm with you 110% on the no sleepover plan. This world is way too scary for sleepovers now. You can't trust anyone, which is so, so sad... but better to be safe than sorry. I'm glad Rachel took the news well. She's a good girl.
I agree with the sleepover thing. I don't really want that day to come. I have heard about the late night things. I think they are a good idea.
I love late nights, you never have to worry that your going to get a call in the middle of the night because someone is homesick. I love that everyone is home in their own beds and asleep, instead of staying up all night and being tired and grumpy the next day.
Heidi,
It is funny to hear that other people do not agree with sleepovers either. I know it will be a pain when I have to start fighting it, but the overall benefits definitely outweigh the risks. Your family is totally gorgeous. I am so glad you found me. I really do not know how to blog yet. Give me a while to figure it out. We will be moving in at the beginning of May, it will be way fun to see you. By the way, is your friend moving into that house? Hope to see you soon!
Late nights all the way. Thats the fun part anyway--who really likes to sleep on the floor of your friends bedroom anyway? And does it really matter at that point which house you are at--you are sleeping right?!?
Well if you are a bad parent, then put me in the same category. We also had girl nights, even days. It was good to hear from you. I saw you at Michelle's Modbe Party, you look great. You have an adorable family, love the dogs name. Go ahead and add mine if I can add yours.
Heidi, they can't play in Kaysville you are right. This is a Bountiful team. I do wish Kaysville did soccer for the little ones though.
